Jeff is an human resources executive with a successful track record spanning 20 years of building strong organizational cultures with innovative organizational strategies for breakthrough business results. Jeff uses practical and simple ways to elevate the performance of organizations and individuals at all levels. Currently, the Chief Learning Officer for the State of Minnesota he is respected as an expert in both business and academic spheres. As a business leader, he has lead teams in several industries including IT, healthcare, retail, nonprofit, insurance, and e-commerce. He also teaches graduate and undergraduate management courses at the University of St. Thomas, Dunwoody College of Technology, Minnesota State University, Hamline University, and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. His M.A and B.A. studies are in the fields of Human Communication and Educational Psychology. When he's not in the office or on campus he enjoys hiking and biking with his family, photography, and studying birds.

Jeffrey S. Cook

Introduction to basic communication theories and skills as they pertain to the business setting. Text, lecture, class discussion and exercises, and individual and group presentations will better prepare students to become more effective communicators at work. The course will focus on presentational skills, dyadic communication and interviewing, and group communication. This class may be taken by Communication and Journalism majors only with the permission of the department chair.
