Chemistry Seminar: Synthesis and Application of Functional Polymers with Highly Branched Nanostructures

Dr. Haifeng Gao, University of Notre Dame

Date & Time:

12:15 PM - 1:20 PM

Highly branched polymers that have compact structure, tunable molecular weights, and multiple chain ends represent an important kind of soft organic nanomaterials. This presentation discusses our recent progresses on synthesis and application of these functional polymers. Particular interests are on the development of one-pot synthesis methods and examples by using these polymer materials as unimolecular nanocontainers for drugs, catalysts and electroluminescent dyes. In addition, the presentation will also discuss the research strength, facilities and the Ph.D. program in our department. As the director of our graduate admissions committee, I welcome any student from the University of St. Thomas to apply to our Ph.D. program and join our big family of Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

All programs offered by the University of St. Thomas shall be readily accessible to individuals with disabilities. For details, call (651) 962-6315.
