Monitor Degree Progress

  • Review your degree evaluation and ensure that your fall and spring enrollments will allow you to meet all graduation requirements by the end of your senior year. Consult with your faculty advisor or an academic counselor, if necessary.
  • Create a 4 year (or more) graduation plan with an academic counselor.
  • Consult with your faculty advisor and Academic Counseling & Support about elective courses, academic minors, internship opportunities, research, etc.

Do Your Research

  • Connect with faculty in your major area of study to inquire about undergraduate research opportunities and Excel Research Scholars.
  • Research graduate and professional schools, application deadlines and programs that interest you. Get help writing your personal statement from faculty members and the Career Development Center.

Begin or Continue to Prepare for a Fulfilling Career

  • Schedule a Mock Interview.
  • Use On-Campus Interviewing (link) or the TommieCareers job and internship listings (link) to find a summer internship.
  • Gather information about your target jobs and employers.
  • Attend Career Development Center seminars and events.
  • Connect with employers at career fairs including the Minnesota Private Colleges Job & Internship Fair, and the Government and Non-Profit Career Fair.
  • Gain relevant experience though internships, volunteer positions, research, or related work.
  • Participate in On-Campus Interviewing (link) to connect with larger corporations.
  • Identify professional associations related to career interests.
  • Develop your LinkedIn profile.
  • Research graduate/professional school possibilities.
  • Continue to build your professional network.
  • Explore work opportunities in another country via Going Global.
