COURSE REFERENCE NUMBERS (CRN)

  • Under ADD classes, enter the numerical 5-digit CRN (course reference number) number for the course. Note: The CRN number is not the course number/section. It is a 5-digit number used to identify a specific section of a course for a specific term.
  • If you do not know the CRN number for a course, either select "class search" or visit our Class Finder

ADDING CLASSES

  • Once you know the CRN numbers for the classes you wish to register, enter the numbers in the boxes under Add Classes and click on the “Submit Changes” button to register.
  • After you click submit, a confirmation page will appear listing approved 'web registered' courses as well as any errors that occurred. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the registration errors. “PREQ and TEST SCORE” means you are missing a pre-requisite for the course.
  • Once you have registered for classes using the MURPHY system you are officially enrolled and committed to attend class.
  • Students who decide not to attend must officially drop or withdraw from the classes; see drop procedures below.

DROPPING CLASSES

  • When space becomes available in a closed course, the students on the waiting list will be contacted by the registration office.
  • Please do not attend a class for which you are waitlisted. Class sizes are set by the graduate school to accommodate the mission of the program, the teaching style of the instructor and the needs of the students.
