In the face of continued revelations of lapses in leadership by members of the hierarchy of the Church, many Catholics are tempted to leave “the Church.” But who is the Church? Is it the bishops and the archbishops here and in Rome? What is the role of faithful members of the laity and religious men and women who are not bishops and archbishops?
