Card Care & Security

The University of St. Thomas Tommie ID Card is a magnetic stripe card encoded with data.  To keep the card in working order and help extend its useful life, follow these guidelines:

  • Store the card in a wallet or protective covering
  • Do not punch holes of any kind in the card (if you do, and your Tommie Card stops working, you will have to pay for a replacement card)
  • Keep the card away from keys or other sharp objects that could scratch the stripe
  • Do not expose the card to extreme temperature conditions
  • Do not deface, decorate, alter, modify, or in any way tamper with the card (if you do, and your Tommie Card stops working, you will have to pay for a replacement card)
  • Keep the card away from electronics capable of generating magnetic fields which could erase the encoded data

The University of St. Thomas Tommie ID Card remains the property of the University of St. Thomas and is for use solely by the cardholder.  Help protect the card from unauthorized use by adhering to the following:

  • Do not let anyone else use your University of St. Thomas Tommie ID Card
  • Do not leave your card as collateral
  • Do not deface, decorate, alter, modify, or in any way tamper with the card
  • If card is lost or stolen, report it immediately to the Tommie Card Office (651-962-6069) and/or Public Safety (651-962-5100)
