Senior students in the American Culture & Difference program presented their capstone projects to faculty, students, and the public in the O'Shaughnessy-Frey Leather Room on Monday, May 15th. This is the first time that current students had the opportunity, at their discretion, to put together a capstone project, with advisory assistance from Dr. Olga Herrera (English), Dr. Mike Klein (Justice & Peace Studies), and Dr. Heather Shirey (Art History). The capstone project will be required for all American Culture and Difference students who begin at St. Thomas in Fall 2017.

Presenters and presentation titles included:

MacKenzie Burke: "Visualizing Power and Labor: Mapping Relationships in Fast Food"

Carlee Diedrich: "YouTube 'Beauty Boys' as Subversive Agents of Gender Revolution"

Emma Kopp: "Swipe Left: The Culture of Compulsory Heterosexuality, Gendered Socialization, and Harassment"
