WMST Honors Society

Women's Studies majors and minors and interested students who have taken two courses (or are enrolled in their second course) in women's studies and have a 3.0 GPA are eligible to join Triota, a new honor society.

Majors & Minors

Interested students are encouraged to meet with the Director of Women’s Studies to discuss how a Women’s Studies major or minor could fit with their academic plans. Contact Dr. Susan Myers (semyers@stthomas.edu) to set up an appointment.

Major in Women’s Studies:

  • WMST 205: Foundations in Women’s Studies

  • WMST 327: Feminist Theory

  • WMST 480: Women’s Studies Seminar or Individual Research Experience (talk to the Director

    about this option)

  • One Internship course (designated as Individual Study)

  • At least eight credits in Humanities (chosen from courses cross-listed in Women’s Studies)

  • At least eight credits in the Social Sciences and Natural Sciences (chosen from courses cross-

    listed in Women’s Studies)

  • Four credits in Global/Racial/Ethnic courses (chosen from approved courses)

  • Four elective credits chosen from the Humanities and/or the Social Sciences and Natural

    Sciences (chosen from courses cross-listed in Women’s Studies)

  • Note: At least twelve credits in Humanities, Social/Natural Sciences, and Multicultural Studies must be at the 300- or 400-level.

Minor in Women’s Studies:

  • WMST 205: Foundations in Women’s Studies

  • Eight credits in Humanities (chosen from courses cross-listed in Women’s Studies)

  • Eight credits in Social Sciences and Natural Sciences (chosen from courses cross-listed in

    Women’s Studies)
