Dr. Buffy Smith teaches Race and Ethnicity, Social Stratification and Social Problems in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of St. Thomas.  Professor Smith’s primary research interests include examining racial, gender, and class disparities within the higher education system. Professor Smith’s publications address issues such as social capital, cultural capital and mentoring within higher education.
