This month’s issue of Time Magazine, titled The Mindful Revolution, introduces a meditation program that has gained considerable attention amongst scientists and medical practitioners around the world.  Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), first introduced by MIT educated scientist Jon Kabat-Zinn, is a behavioral medicine program designed to help people cope with stress and illness. As a regular practice, MBSR has been scientifically correlated with some really amazing benefits; most notably, reducing stress and anxiety. Perhaps the most significant reason for MBSR’s popularity is that participants need not be meditation ‘experts.’ MBSR is accessible to people from all walks of life.

This summer, the University of St Thomas welcomes faculty and staff to join an 8 Week MBSR Course. Classes will take place in the UST Wellness Center on Tuesdays (9 – 11:30 AM) and run from June 17th through August 5th, with a full day retreat on campus on July 26th.
