Eligibility
You must be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of St. Thomas during the spring semester prior to your Young Scholars award and throughout the summer in which you will carry out your Young Scholars research project. Therefore, for research projects pursued during summer 2010, you must be a degree-seeking student at St. Thomas during Spring Semester 2010 and throughout summer 2010.
Young Scholars must be prepared to work full-time on their research projects over the course of at least 10 weeks in June, July, and August.
Restrictions
- Students who have already graduated or who are planning to graduate prior to the end of their Young Scholars award (mid- to late-August) are not eligible to participate in this program.
- Students may not receive a Young Scholars grant to support research for which they receive course credit.

Students may not enroll in day classes or take on remunerative daytime employment during the summer in which they are working on their Young Scholars research projects.

Faculty mentors must be regular faculty members at UST or adjunct faculty members who have either a contract to teach during Fall Semester 2010 or a letter from their department indicating a strong likelihood that they will be teaching during that period.

Students may submit a maximum of one application to the Young Scholars Program during each round of competition.
Note on Repeat Applications
You are welcome to apply more than once for a Young Scholars grant, but when resources are limited, reviewers will give competitive preference to applicants who have never received a grant.
