Undergraduate Research & Collaborative Scholarships
Eligibility
You must be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of St. Thomas during the spring semester prior to your Community-Based Research award and throughout the summer in which you will carry out your Community-Based Research project. Therefore, for research projects pursued during summer 2012, you must be a degree-seeking student at St. Thomas during Spring Semester 2012 and throughout summer 2012.
Students accepting a Community-Based Research grant must be prepared to spend 400 hours over the course of the summer (June – August) on their research projects.
Restrictions

Students must be sponsored by a UST faculty member and have a confirmed full-time research project arranged for summer 2012 with a community partner, and their research must benefit this organization and/or the population served by the partner. The student 's application must contain an agreement form signed by the student, a UST faculty mentor, a community mentor, and a CILCE staff member to ensure understanding of the project and all roles and reciprocal benefits.

Students who have already graduated or who are planning to graduate prior to the end of their Community-Based Research award (mid- to late-August) are not eligible to participate in this program.

Students may not receive a Community-Based Research grant to support research for which they receive course credit.

Students may not enroll in day classes or take on remunerative daytime employment during the summer in which they are working on their Community-Based Research projects.

Faculty mentors must be regular faculty members at UST or adjunct faculty members who have either a contract to teach during Fall Semester 2012 or a letter from their department indicating a strong likelihood that they will be teaching during that period.

Students may submit a maximum of one application to the Community-Based Research Program during each round of competition.

Students who are not in compliance with this or any other grant GRO program (have not turned in a paper produced with the assistance of an earlier research grant or participated in the Inquiry at UST event) are not eligible to receive funding under this program.
