Guidelines

The application is intended to be brief and to minimize bureaucracy.  It should consist of no more than four pages of text and include:

  1. a statement of the overarching goal(s) of your proposed summer program.  What do you hope to accomplish?
  2. a description of the planned activities, an approximate schedule, and frequency of activities.  What do you plan to do to achieve your goals?
  3. an estimate of the anticipated number of students involved.  What do you think will be the impact of your summer activities?
  4. a plan for assessing the success and impact of your summer program.  How will you know what you accomplished and the extent to which you achieved your goals?
  5. an estimate of the amount of money you'll need to achieve your goals (list specific activities -- meals, speaker fees, transportation, supplies -- and how much each should cost).

The application must contain the name of faculty member who will direct the program (including department/program, mail #, phone, e-mail address).  If requesting a $100 stipend for coordinating the program (which is above and beyond the cap of $1,000 for program activities), the program coordinator must include his or her UST ID number in the application.

Successful applicants will be expected to carry out the activities described in their proposals and to submit a short, 1-2 page report by September 17, 2010 that includes (1) a description of the activities occurred and their frequency, (2) a detailed accounting of funds spent, and (3) an evaluation or assessment results.
