THE FACULTY MENTOR TRAVEL GRANT PROGRAM HAS BEEN SUSPENDED OWING TO BUDGET REDUCTIONS. THE PROGRAM WILL BE REINSTATED AS SOON AS ADDITIONAL FUNDING BECOMES AVAILABLE.
The Faculty Mentor Travel Grant Program enthusiastically supports faculty mentors who wish to attend a scholarly conference where a student whom they have mentored under the Young Scholars or Collaborative Inquiry grant programs will present a paper emerging from that collaboration.
The amount of each Faculty Mentor Travel Grant depends upon need and funds available, but no grant will exceed $700. Faculty Mentor Travel Grants typically provide funding for air and ground transportation, lodging, meeting registration, meals, and other expenses directly related to a faculty mentor's attendance at a conference.
In order to be reimbursed for any expense, faculty mentor travel grant recipients must provide a paper receipt confirming both the actual expenditure and the fact that it was paid for. When requesting reimbursement for meals, faculty mentor travel grant recipients are asked to keep all expenditures at reasonable levels, with a rough guide of no more than $10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch, and $20 for dinner. In all cases, faculty mentors are asked to be responsible stewards of University resources.
The Faculty Mentor Travel Grant will not pay for any alcohol under any circumstances.
There are no set deadlines for applying for a Faculty Student Travel Grant, but you must submit your application at least 14 days in advance of your planned departure.
A complete application for a Faculty Mentor Travel Grant will consist of 1) completed Application Form, and 2) a copy of a conference program or an acceptance letter confirming your mentored student as a presenter at a scholarly conference. Send both as hard paper copies to:
