Led by senior All-American Derek Marks' NCAA provisional
toss in the discus, St. Thomas had four top-two finishes
in field events Saturday at the non-team scored Aztec
Men's Track & Field Invite. The two-day competition was
hosted by San Diego State University.
Marks took second in the discus in an NCAA provisional
mark of 169-4 -- just three feet off an NCAA automatic
mark and just below his personal-best 172-0 throw from
2006. Marks placed eighth at nationals last May.
All-American pole vaulter Matt Schroeder took second in
his event in 15-11. That was his outdoor career best and
the second-best outdoor height in UST history.

(46-4 3-4) after he took second in Friday's hammer
throw. Sophomore James Ewer won the long jump in 22-3.

with Kyle Jepson, Chris Bradford and Joe DeFrance.

sixth (11.26). In the 200, Jepson was third (22.92) and
