Men's Track and Field has good
tune-up for MIAC meet
The St. Thomas
men's track and field team had several strong performances at
Saturday's St. Olaf Invite. UST had six firsts in the non-team
scored event.
Matt Schroeder improved his provisional and season best in the
pole vault as he took first in 15-11. That ranks 11th in
Division III.
Brian Sames (2:30.52) and Matt Boumeester (2:31.12) placed 1-2
in the 1,000 with the fastest times in the conference thus far.
Travis Birklid won the 55 hurdles in 7.97 -- the second best
time in the MIAC. It's just off the provisional qualifying time
of 7.75.
R.J. Strand moved into the top five on the MIAC triple jump list
this season as he placed fourth in 43-6.
Other winners included: in the 55 James Ewer who placed
first(6.55), Kyle Jepson placed fourth (6.68), and Justin
Nwadiashi finished sixth (6.76). Phil Bastron took first in the
200 (23.17). In the 600 Ryan Chapman placed third (1:16.82) and
Brian Welle took sixth (1:18.52). Seth Rosvold placed first in
the mile (4:29.00), Evan Schwartz finished fourth (4:32.60), and
Rorak Hooten took seventh (4:34.42). Greg Dowe placed fourth in
the 800 (1:58.46). In the 1,000 Neil Atzinger took fourth place
(2:36.96) and Nick George finished seventh (2:41.93). In the 55
hurdles Brian Welle placed fourth (8.21) and Lem Berry finished
sixth (8.38). Cameron Roemhildt took third in the high jump
(1.86m) and Joe Rohlfing tied for sixth (1.81m). Brad Hansen
finished fifth in the pole vault (4.40m). In the long jump Alex
Weaver placed third (6.43m), Cameron Roemhildt placed fourth
(6.37m), and Ryan Maciej took sixth (6.02m). R.J. Strand placed
fourth in the Triple Jump (13.26m), Cameron Roemhildt finished
fifth (12.40m), and Alex Weaver took seventh (12.21m). In the
shot put Mark O'Connell placed third (14.44m) and Derek Marks
took sixth (13.79m). In the weight throw Derek Marks finished
third (16.14m) and Mark O'Connell took fourth (15.61m).
