Men's
Track's Hilliard hits provisional time in 400H

Hilliard had a season-best time of 53.93 in the 400 hurdles to
surpass the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 54.00 at
Wednesday night's non-team scored Macalester Twilight meet.
Hamline's Will Sallee (53.91), Hilliard and a Minnesota Gopher
hurdler finished 1-2-3, all within one-tenth of a second.
Hilliard also ran on the Toms' winning 4x100 relay in 41.81.
The Toms got a season-best javelin throw from Tore Evenson. He
placed second in 183-4 -- just off the NCAA provisional mark
of 188-4.
Bryce Beckman won the 800 meters (1:56.60) and Jason Schweitz
was second in the 400 (49.71).
Matt McLaughlin won the hammer (155-7), was second in the shot
put (45-6 3/4) and took fifth in the discus (140-9).
Andrew Kisielius took second in the triple jump (45-4 1/4) and
third in the long jump (21-2 1/2).
Other top-10 finishers for UST were Cassidy Glad (22.46) and
Schwietz (22.84), seventh and 10th in the 200; Steve Rajewsky
(50.76) and Shawn Lohman (52.52), fifth and 10th in the 400;
Robert Ware, sixth in the 800 (2:02.06); Brian Hauge, 10th in
the 1,500 (4:15.37); Chris Mattke (56.34), sixth in the 400
hurdles; Mattke (16.23) and Jason Simmons (16.37), fifth and
sixth in the 110 hurdles; Jason Overson, fifth in the 3,000
steeplechase (10:37.23); Jerrod Gray (6-0) and Mike Draxton
(6-0), fifth and sixth in the high jump; Ryan Hatteberg (19-10
1/2) and Draxton (19-8 1/4), eighth and ninth in the long
jump; Michael Madison (40-2 1/2), sixth in the triple jump;
Peter Rosholt, seventh in the discus (134-1); Rosholt (142-8)
and Gabe Skelly (131-9), fifth and seventh in the hammer; and
Dave Diercks, fifth in the javelin (164-9).
