St.
Thomas had four strong provisional performances at
Thursday's NCAA qualifier meet in LaCrosse, Wis.
Brian Sames was second in the 800 meters in a
season-best 1:52.26. That ranks him 13th in Division III
and right on the bubble to make the national meet.
James Ewer won the long jump in a season-best 23-1 1-4.
That hit the NCAA provisional standard by one-half inch
but ranks 26th overall.
The women improved their provisional-qualifying time in
the 4x400 relay as they clocked 3:53.24. That's the
14th-best time and also has them on the bubble.
Shara Guidy was the top collegian finisher in the
discus, and her mark of 147-10 ranks eighth-best in the
country and should send her to nationals.
Several other Tommies competed in the non-team scored
