McCarney leads Men's Track at Eau
Claire
A partial squad for the St. Thomas
men's indoor track and field team competed Friday in the
UW-Eau Claire Invite. Senior Joe McCarney led the way as
he won the 55 hurdles (7.92) and was second in the long
jump (20-10 1-2).
The Tommies also got a second in the 4x400 (3;33.88);
thirds from Ben Garbe in the triple jump (42-7), Corey
Fusco in the 800 (1:59.23), Bryce Beckman in the 400
dash (51.59) and Kyle Fischer in the 200 (23.47).
Fischer also placed fourth in the 55 dash (6.76); Tom
Hart took fifth in the 55 (6.77; and Aaron Johnson was
fourth in both the shot put (46-8 3-4) and the weight
throw (45-3 1-2).

Benson leads Men's Track at ISU
Open.
Senior Craig Benson placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles
in 8.42 to lead a small contingent of St. Thomas runners
Saturday at the Iowa State University Open in Ames,
Iowa.
All-American Andrew Hillaird placed 13th in the 600 in
1:13.86. Freshman Jason Schwietz took 29th out of 54 in
the 400 dash in 50.54. The Tommies' 4x400 relay placed
13th in 3:21.77. Soph Jason Villar ran 51.28. Freshman
Carson Glad ran the 200 (22.86) and 60 (7.32).
Also Saturday at the Minnesota Open, UST All-American
Roman Cress ran 6.84 in the 60 meters.
Several Tommie men competed in Friday's UW-Eau Claire
Invite.
