Meet of Saints
Derek
Marks swept the discus and hammer and St. Thomas won nine events
and outscored St. John's and St. Olaf to win Saturday's Meet of
Saints in Northfield. The Toms tallied 151.5 to edge the
Johnnies (134.5) and Oles (80).
Marks won the hammer (160-9) and discus (169-3). Mark O'Connell
won the shot put (47-9 3-4), was second in the hammer (157-1)
and third in the discus (120-10).
Chris Bradford (10.93), Joe DeFrance (10.94) and Kyle Jepson
(11.05) went 1-2-3 in the 100 meters. Bradford (22.83) and
Jepson (22.84) went 2-3 in the 200. UST also won the 4x100 relay
(41.93).
Brian Sames (1:54:26) and Eric Boumeester (1:54.66) went 1-2 in
the 800. Sames' time was just off the NCAA provisional time
1:53.20.
James Ewer won the 400 (49.95). Logan O'Grady (4:05.89) and Seth
Rosvold (4:06.72) went 1-2 in the 1,500. Travis Birklid (16.18)
was third in the 100 hurdles.
In the long jump, Sam Moen (21-4) and Alex Weaver (20-5
1-4)placed 1-3. Matt Schroeder took second in the pole vault
(14-6). R.J. Strand was third in the triple jump (42-1 1-4). Joe
Rohlfing (6-0 3-4) and Jonah Shermer (5-10 3-4) went 2-3 in the
high jump.
