Joel Kiekbusch

Coach
Kiekbusch is in his tenth year of coaching at St.
Thomas. He has an extensive background in track & field.
First as an athlete at Winona Senior High School,
Kiekbusch was a Winhawk sprinter and all-Big Nine
competitor. Later at Winona State University, Kiekbusch
was an all-NSIC competitor at 800m and on several
relays. |

Kiekbusch
came to UST in 1996 and took over the horizontal jumps the
following year. After a one-year absence at UW-Eau Claire,
he returned to the Tommies in 1998. Kiekbusch is a graduate
of Winona Senior High School and Winona State University,
and earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of
St. Thomas. He began his coaching career in 1986 and for 20
years has coached at the interscholastic, NCAA Division I,
II, and III levels.
In ten
years at UST, Kiekbusch has coached MIAC conference
champions PJ Theisen, Joe Thomas, Andrew Hilliard, Andrew
Kisielius, Jeff Schmidt, and Adam Johnson, as well as
all-conference performers Ben Garbe, Shannon Rainey, and Cam
Stottler.
Coach
Kiekbusch is well-versed in coaching theory and is certified
by USA Track & Field as a Level I and Level II coach.
Kiekbusch attended USATF Coaching Education schools at the
University of Minnesota, the Olympic Training Center in
Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cal State-Long Beach in Southern
California, and the University of St. Thomas.
Kiekbusch is a special educator at Eastview
High School in Apple Valley; he resides in Rosemount, MN,
with his wife Rebekah and son Hansel.
