On Tuesday evening, April 9, 2013, from 7:30 p.m.—9:00 p.m., the St. Thomas Theology Department and the Science and Theology Network (STN) will host
“Science and Religion in Conversation:
Celebrating the Career of Ian G. Barbour,
as he nears his 90th birthday”
Alan Padgett, Ph.D., Luther Seminary, will present a list of Professor Barbour’s outstanding accomplishments. Nathan Hallanger, Ph.D., Augsburg College, will then present a paper, “A Brief History of Ian Barbour’s Work,” followed by a short video of Barbour. Barbour himself will then respond, taking questions and answers from the audience.
Over the last forty years, Ian Barbour has been perhaps the most well-known figure in the field of science and religion. In fact, Ian Barbour did much to found this interdisciplinary study in the contemporary academy.
After the event, there will be a reception and refreshments will be served. The event will take place in JRC 126. Inexpensive parking is available in the Anderson Parking Ramp on the SW corner of Cretin and Summit. The event is free and open to the public.
