| This course examines the use and miuse of the Bible and its political teachings in American political history. Readings and discussions will address the political message of the Bible, the question of whether the Bible played any substantial role in the creation of the American polity, and the way in which particular biblical passages, themes, and schools of interpretation have functioned in American political discourse and have influenced the development of American history.
