Financing Short-Term Programs

Financing Study Abroad: Short-Term Programs

Can I use my financial aid for January Term, June or summer off-campus programs?Financial aid is not available specifically for January Term, June Term or summer programs. However, students who have been accepted for participation may qualify for additional loans to be applied to your spring semester (for a January Term abroad) or summer account.

For June or summer programs, you must enroll for at least 6 credits to be eligible for financial aid for other loans.

Students interested in applying for financial aid must meet with a Financial Aid Counselor.

Costs
Program costs vary. Average costs of a January Term program and the $175 St. Thomas Off-campus Study Fee for 2007-2008 will be comparable to on-campus tuition, room, and board plus airfare. Length of program, location, local cost of living, type of program, and exchange rates will all influence the cost.

These fees will include tuition, airfare, accommodation, some meals, ground transportation and excursions, unless noted on the individual program descriptions.

As with January Term programs, June and summer programs carry a St. Thomas Off-Campus Study Fee of $175.
