Passport Application Process Timeline

For non-expedited passport applications, there is an approximate six-week processing timeline.

For expedited passport applications, there is an approximate two-week processing timeline. There is an additional $60 fee for expedited service.

If you do not get a passport in time to depart with your program, you could forfeit the full program cost.

Checking Passport Status:

You may track the status of your passport application on the U.S. State Department’s website at http://www.travel.state.gov/  http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/status/status_2567.html. It is extremely difficult to reach staff at the Passport Agency by phone to ask questions.  One may try to set up an appointment through the automated system if leaving the U.S., or schedule a visa appointment within 14 days, but the system is often overloaded.
