Orientation & Registration Timeline

This timeline will give you more information about the steps related to orientation & registration you should be taking throughout the year.

July

If you are living on campus, you will receive your housing assignment and information about move-in weekend. You will participate in your assigned O&R session.

August

Use this time to prepare for your transition to St. Thomas. Connect with family and friends and make plans for how you will stay in touch. 

September

Students living on campus will participate in move-in weekend activities on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6. All first-year students will be asked to participate in Fall Welcome activities on Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) and Tuesday, September 8. Classes begin on Wednesday, September 9.  Watch for emails from your Orientation Leader.  They will keep you up-to-date about activities and events on campus.

October

Attend Homecoming-reunion weekend. Invite parents and/or family to attend Family Weekend events. Study for mid-terms.

November

Register for spring semester classes.  Enjoy Thanksgiving break!

December

You have completed your first semester at UST!  Reflect on what went well and your achievements from this semester.  Watch for information on spring activities and applying for student leadership positions

January

J-Term. Enjoy a break, take a class or go on a VISION trip!

February

Classes begin for spring semester. Participate in welcome back activities.
Orientation Leader selection takes place.

March

Complete roommate selection for the upcoming school year.  Complete FAFSA materials for the upcoming school year.  Prepare for fall semester registration.

 

 

CLASS of 2014

April

Finalize your decision about what college you will be attending in fall.Complete FAFSA materials if you haven’t already done so.

May

You will receive the First Year Registration Guide and placement test information from Academic Counseling. The online placement tests for languages, math and chemistry should be completed by the end of May.  Later in May, you will receive the formal invitation to Orientation & Registration, with instructions on how to sign up for one of the single-day sessions. Try to submit your reservation request as soon as possible.

June

You will complete a course preference worksheet on-line to help our academic counselors register you for at least one course prior to O&R. You need to have all placement tests completed before moving on to the worksheet, and should complete the worksheet before July 1. You will also receive confirmation of your assigned O&R session.
