Becoming an Orientation Leader

Summer Orientation Leaders

Summer Orientation Leaders facilitate small group discussions, present information to incoming students, and generally assist new students and their families at the summer Orientation & Registration (O&R) programs. Leaders complete up to 15 hours of training in the spring and work full-time in July.

Transfer Transition Mentors

Transfer Transition Mentors facilitate small group discussions, present information, and generally assist new students and their families at transfer programs held in late August and late January.

Both Summer Orientation Leaders and Transfer Transition Mentors are selected through the collaborative student leader selection process that happens each spring. Applications are available November-February and are due in February. Students applying for orientation positions may also apply for other positions (such as International Mentor, STAR Intern, Resident or Commuter Adviser, etc.) through this same selection process.
