A letter from the Educating for the Future Task Force

July 25, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

The Educating for the Future task force has developed candidate undergraduate curriculum models, and we are now ready to solicit feedback from the UST community.  We have created a shared site, which can be accessed here (UST login required).  At this site, you will find the four models, presented in similar formats. We ask that you take some time to review these models and engage with the committee through feedback opportunities mentioned below.  These models represent quite different approaches to the core curriculum, and they are based on many different inputs, including input from the UST community. We are not expecting that any of these models will be recommended in current form; the final proposal may combine elements from various proposals.

There will be many opportunities for you to learn more about these models and to provide feedback.  Below is a schedule which lists University-wide opportunities for engagement:

  • Monday, August 1 11am-1pm:  St. Paul informational open house (ASC 340)
  • Tuesday, September 13 11:45am-1:15pm:  St. Paul brown bag (ASC 378S)
  • Thursday, September 22 11:45am-1:15pm:  Minneapolis brown bag (TMH 252)
  • Friday, October 7 11am-1pm:  St. Paul informational open house (ASC LL07)

In addition, task force members will be attending various faculty and curriculum meetings this fall. Please feel free to reach out to task force members with questions and comments on the proposed curriculum models. A survey to formally collect feedback on the proposed curriculum models will be sent out on September 29th and closed on October 17th.

Sincerely,

Educating for the Future Task Force
