Building on the success of the STEPS Camps hosted at the University of St. Thomas since 2000, five engineering day camps will be held summer 2015 at the Arlington Hills Community Center in St. Paul, MN for 20 children in each day camp. These free camps are for campers going into 7th grade. Three camps will be held in July for girls only, and two camps offered in August will be for both girls and boys.
The STEPS Camp strives to bring engineering opportunities to Saint Paul kids, especially focusing on the neighborhood served by the Arlington Hills Community Center. We hope to expose children to potential engineering careers, college life (including eating in the cafeteria), and ignite an interest in science/technology/engineering.
Utilizing the Createch Studio's equipment, including Johnson High School's Laser Engraver and 3D printer, we will be connecting young students in the neighborhood with mentors and resources they can access throughout their high school careers.
Cost: The camps are FREE! (There is no cost to you.)
