Non-Exempt Staff Council Study Abroad Scholarship
Congratulations to 2015-2016 scholarship recipients:
Michele Goodson and Haley Howard!
Haley has been selected to receive the scholarship for Fall 2015 and Michele has been selected to receive the scholarship for J-Term 2016. Each award will be $2,000 and will help with funds necessary for their plans to study abroad.
We asked Michele and Haley to share a little bit about themselves and their study abroad plans:
First, I am so grateful to have been selected for this scholarship! This scholarship will allow me to participate in the J-Term 2016 Study Abroad trip-"Food, Faith and Families: A Sociocultural Journey Through Italy." I am a senior, pursuing a Family Studies major, and a full time staff member in the Alumni Relations office. It has been a blessing to have worked at St. Thomas since 2005.
I have had the opportunity to experience firsthand the excellent education that the students of the University of St. Thomas receive. My professors have been amazing, talented and caring. Now I will be able to take my education on the road! Being a student has given me a whole new perspective on the University of St. Thomas experience, and the opportunity to travel abroad will bring a new type of learning to my education that is becoming a vital part of many students’ college careers. I am a hands on learner and can’t wait to immerse myself in the culture, food and faith of Italy.
Thank you for your generous gift!
Thank you so much for awarding me with this scholarship, I am very thankful!
My name is Haley Howard and I am currently a sophomore. I plan to major in Supply Chain & Operations Management with a minor in Spanish. In the fall I will be studying in Barcelona, Spain through the IES: Liberal Arts & Business program. I plan to take several business courses along with Spanish courses. I hope to do lots of extra traveling throughout Europe and am looking forward to this amazing experience!
