Pre-Theology - Students With Bachelor's Degrees

Students Who Have Graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree

The two-year Pre-Theology curriculum is designed for candidates who have completed a baccalaureate degree but who lack the background in philosophy and theology required to enter the seminary and begin the Master of Divinity degree. Students in the Pre-Theology program take a total of 66 credits and receive solid academic preparation specifically oriented to priestly ministry. They reside at the seminary as full participants in prayer and community life.

The Pre-Theology curriculum includes a broad foundation in philosophy. Through the historical sequence, students examine the contributions of philosophy in such areas as metaphysics, theories of the human person, theories of knowledge, and ethics. Similarly, in theology, the Pre-Theology program offers an introduction to Biblical texts and interpretive methods and a solid foundation in Church teaching and documents.
