Admission to the Program

Master of Divinity (M.Div.):  Admission to Seminary Program

The program’s human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral requirements reflect the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope John Paul II in Pastores dabo vobis (PDV) and the norms of the Program of Priestly Formation (PPF) of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the requirements of the Association of Theological Schools of the United States and Canada (ATS).

The various elements of the priestly formation program are unified by the purpose of preparing candidates for priestly ministry who are theologically informed and solidly grounded in the tradition of the Church. In addition throughout the program, the academic study of theology and experience in pastoral ministry are integrated and mutually reinforcing. The curriculum seeks to develop in students a love of the Christian tradition and a theological understanding of the role of the magisterium in the life of the Church.

Coursework integrates the four themes specified in the PPF: the changing ethnic and racial fabric of the Church in the United States; peace, justice, and respect for life; ecumenical and interfaith relations; and collaboration.
