From the Director

June 2016

Dear Reverend Fathers,

I am very blessed to be serving you as director of the Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation (IOCF), a new initiative that we pray will help you progress in your generous response to the gift God has bestowed on you. With access to theological, educational, and pastoral resources, as well as trained faculty and staff, the IOCF at The Saint Paul Seminary provides the essential human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral formation necessary to ensure you are equipped to build up the Body of Christ in our parishes, dioceses, and throughout the world.

I am a permanent deacon, and my wife Lisa and I have four children. Prior to my appointment to the IOCF, I spent 17 years as an attorney in executive management and eight years as CEO of Catholic Senior Services. I have a Masters in Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary, and I currently teach in the diaconal programs and the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute at The Saint Paul Seminary. I serve a parish, and I am an NCBC certified bioethicist for the Catholic Medical Association, the Diocese of La Crosse, and the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

By now you have received a survey from the IOCF. I encourage you to complete the survey or email your suggestions to me. I also welcome meeting with you anytime to discuss your ideas for the IOCF.

Within the formative framework of the four pillars of formation, the IOCF is busy planning retreats and events, as well as providing a varity of resources for pastors. Please see the Upcoming Events and Spiritual, Intellectual, Pastoral, and Human Formation links on our website for more information.

I welcome your feedback. This is just a beginning.
