CRN: 20767 4 Credit Hours Instructor: Valerie A. Clark This course takes a sociological approach in examining the role of corrections in the criminal justice system focusing on the rationales for punishing offenders, the range of correctional placements, and the effectiveness of correctional policies in achieving social control. Topics include correctional treatment practices, mass incarceration , reentry, restorative justice, and ethical decision making in corrections. Prerequisites: SOCI 100 and SOCI 200
