“Group Supervision”
Group supervision is unique in that professional growth of the supervisees is aided by the interactions occurring among group members. Supervision in groups provides an opportunity for social workers/clinicians to experience mutual support, share common experiences, solve complex tasks, learn new skills, participate in skills training, increase interpersonal competencies, and increase insight. The group supervisor needs group work leadership skills and supervision skills in order to facilitate the interaction among the supervisees in service of their clients.
This workshop will provide an overview of the theory relevant to group supervision and a model for implementation. In addition it will address the common issues related to group supervision including: supervisor anxiety, case presentations and intervention strategies, group cohesion, supervisor/supervisee responsibility, parallel process, and individual member differences such as level of practice expertise and treatment approaches.
