The School of Social Work typically offers MSW courses in a late afternoon/evening format, weekdays Monday through Thursday. The weekend cohort is an additional option for admission. Originally, the cohort was designed to accommodate students outside of the seven-county Twin Cities Metro area who had limited access to St. Paul classes. Now we are pleased to offer this program option to all applicants.
Weekend cohort courses generally meet once a month during the semester on consecutive days, Fridays (noon - 9 p.m.) and Saturdays (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). There also are required classes in the summer. Courses are held on the St. Paul campus. Students will need to participate in some Internet interactions for their courses, thus Web access will be an expectation of all students. Weekend cohorts begin in June of each year.
The Regular Standing (RS) cohort is meant for students with an undergraduate degree fro a discipline other than social work. The degree requirements take four years to complete. The Advanced Standing (AS) cohort is meant for students with an undergraduate social work degree. The degree requirements for this track take three years to complete.
The application deadline is Jan. 10, 2010. If you need assistance determining whether the weekday program or weekend cohort would be the best fit for you, please contact the MSW Program Manager at (651) 962-5810 or (800) 328-6819, Ext. 2-5810.
