As our MSW alums know from experience, all MSW students in the School of Social work are required to complete a clinical research paper and presentation. Students recruit committee members with expertise regarding their projects. Students work with their faculty research chairperson to identify possible committee members and invite individuals to join committees.
Criteria for Members of the MSW Clinical Research Committee includes:
- At least one committee member must be from the community
- One committee member must be a social worker with an MSW
Possible candidates for committee members (one must have a master’s degree in social work):
- Faculty member from outside the School
- A practitioner with a BSW, MSW, or Ph.D. in Social Work
- A professional with expertise relevant to your topic
- Social work faculty members who are not serving as chairs
Responsibilities of Committee Members
- Lend expertise to research content and process
- Provide written and verbal feedback on final proposal and final report
- Read Clinical Research Proposal and attend the Committee meeting in the fall as a part of the recommendation and approval process
- Read Clinical Research Proposal and attend the Committee meeting in the spring as a part of the recommendation and approval process
- Attend student presentations in May
