About this Site
This site is run by the New Media Initiatives Group at St. Thomas.
The group came into existence to fill a void. More than two years ago when the group was formed, there was no institutional office or staff who was solely focused on emerging social media technology, nor how the university was represented in social media.
Members from University Relations, Alumni and Constituent Relations, Development, Enrollment Services and Web and Media Services, started talking about how social media integrates with higher education. They are still talking since social media never sits still, but they have taken action. To date, NMIG has:
-
created this web site
-
drafted a social media policy for non-academic staff currently in review
-
created a "Facebook 101" course through Human Resource's Leadership Academy
- initiated a monthly e-newsletter
- presented on St. Thomas' social media landscape at an MPCC event
We hope this site gives the users of social media a good place to start as they represent St. Thomas in the digital world.
