On-Line Learning: Great for Home & When Out-of-Town!
The Selim Center will be offering three on-line learning courses beginning in January. The courses are self-paced and you may begin at any time between January and April (the courses will be “live” from January 2-April 15). Another big advantage of these on-line classes is that you may work through the course materials at any time of day and if you want to jump around, that’s “OK” as well!
The three on-line courses for Spring 2013 are:
- Understanding Music & Culture, Part 1 (music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods)
- Understanding Music & Culture, Part 2 (music of the Classical, Romantic and Modern periods)
- Let’s Hear It for the Girls! – Part 1 (this course will explore the popular music of women in America in the 20th & 21st centuries. Part 1 covers the genres of Jazz and Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap.)
For all three courses, the course textbook and all listening examples are entirely on-line, making this a great class to “bring along” when you’re out of town. All you need is a computer and internet connection and you’re ready to learn! The course materials are supplemented by optional synchronous live web “chat” sessions with the instructor throughout the course.
