Lebt wohl!, Freund!

Paul Schons

Dr. Paul Schons, a longtime friend of the Center, passed away on October 21, after being diagnosed with stage IV metastatic melanoma earlier this year.  Dr. Schons was a professor of German at UST since 1967, and generously shared his love of all things German with hundreds of Center students over the years.

Dr. Schons last taught for a Center lecture series in Spring 2012 (shortly before his diagnosis), having taught several other series over the previous couple of decades.  In addition, he welcomed scores of Go to College program learners to his undergraduate German language classes since the inception of the program in 1973.  Dr. Schons also helped the Center get into online learning when he became our first online instructor starting in Winter 2006.

We are thankful for the way he touched so many lives of our Center students due to his welcoming manner and excellent teaching.  He will be missed greatly by Center students and staff.
