Transportation to the airport - Two Options:
Option #1: By taxi (see Thanos for taxi information)
Option #2: Public transportation (i.e. Metro, train, airport shuttle) - See below:
From Termini Train Station to Fiumicino or Ciampino Airports:
- TERRAVISION bus airport service (between Fiumicino or Ciampino Airports and Rome city center (Via Marsala n. 29 F/G – in front of Terracafè! Termini Train Station) - Check Terravision's main website for timetables and prices or call 06 9761 0632
- Getting to Fiumicino Airport by train (option 2): If your flight is too early to take the Metro to Termini (Metro opens at 5:30 am), ask Thanos to assist you in calling or reserving a taxi for you in advance. Once you are at Termini, take the "Leonardo Express" train that will take you directly to the airport. You can buy your train ticket (€ 14) at an automatic ticket machine or at the ticket counter. The "Leonardo Express" train departs from platform #24 or 26 (the platform number changes every so often), every 30 minutes, and it takes 30 minutes to get to FCO.
- Getting to Ciampino Airport (option 2): During Metro hours (5:30am to 11:30pm) take the Metro from Lepanto (nearest Metro stop to Bernardi) and go all the way to Anagnina. Once you get off at Anagnina, you can buy a bus ticket (C.O.T.R.A.L. bus --- blue bus) from a ticket counter there. The bus will drop you off right outside of Ciampino Airport.
Other Important Tips:
-
Choose your travel partners well, making sure that each person has similar interests.
-
Get to the airport at least 2.5 hours in advance.
-
Tip your cab driver.
-
Inform Thanos if there is a change in plans
-
If you fall into a sticky situation among those traveling with you, talk with each other - discuss all the options and give yourselves at least 10 minutes to make a decision rather than hastily deciding on something.
-
If you run out of time in your travel city, just get to the airport and don't try to finish everything on your list - be realistic about how much time you have.
-
Plan each day as a group.
-
Read the airline rules & guidelines beforehand.
-
See Thanos for more information or any questions related to the above travel tips provided.
