Mississippi River
Clean up
the east bank from Lake St.
bridge south to Ford Pkwy bridge
October 5, 2002

What
started as a gray day changed into a beautiful, sunny day on the east bank
of the Mississippi River. Over 70 people came to help with the
clean-up and pulled over 80 bags of trash off the river banks including a
number of tires, hubcaps, hundreds of bottles and cans, one thunder
bucket, golf balls, a working cell phone, a potted plant (still living
& blooming), several metal trash cans, and lots of plastic. Paul
Nordell, DNR coordinator of the Adopt-A-River
program came by and hauled trash in his pick-up during the afternoon,
encouraging the Green Team and our volunteers. We had refreshments
compliments of Caribou Coffee and Rainbow Foods who graciously donated
donuts and coffee for the volunteers.
Thank you Volunteers,
UST Green Team,
the Physical
Plant and the Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources for making this a very successful event!

The annual spring clean-up by the UST Green Team will (most likely) be the Saturday
before or after Earth Day, April 22nd, 2003.
Watch for postings and
advertising about the event.
Come out and celebrate Earth Week with us!
