Tips on Vendor
Searches
Can’t find the vendor
you want? We have some great news, the
vendor search tool at the bottom of the Murphy Online Requisition form
will assist you in finding your vendor.
Search is No Longer Case sensitive:
The
vendor search at the bottom of the Murphy online requisition is no
longer case sensitive. If
you enter “ama%” some of your results will be: AMARC Inc, Amana Corp,
and aMaze. You are no longer required to remember which letters were upper case
and which were lower case when searching for your vendor.
Search Includes
Alternate Identifications:
Some vendors, for example a " sole proprietor" will have the current
identification (vendor name) listed in Banner as
the individual's
legal name. This is necessary for tax reporting
purposes. The second
address line contains the dba (doing
business as) company name.
The company name will also be listed as an alternate identification, so
that you will be able to find this vendor regardless of which name is
used.
This will also happen
if a company changes its’ name. The previous name
will remain in the database as an alternate identification so that you
should be able to still find your vendor.
If you are unable to
find a vendor you have used before, please
let us know,
we will get back to you with assistance for obtaining the Vendor ID.
Here are some
additional search tips to help you with your vendor search.
-
Use a broad search term. Use
the % sign (wildcard) after a part of the vendor name, or before and
after part of the vendor name.
-
Use
the part of the name that is most unique. %maze%
-
Search
on a shorter part of the name. “Flair%” instead of “Flaire Printing
Company%” or “Flaire Printing Communications%” because the correct name
is “Flaire Print Communications” and you would have missed it if
“Flaire” was not spelled correct, if “Printing” was used instead of
“Print” and if “Company” was used instead of “Communications”.
-
Check your results carefully. They will be in alphabetical order.
