The Psychology Department offers students numerous opportunities to become involved in the field. The Psychology curriculum features three laboratory courses, each of which feature intensive exposure to and work with the tools of the field, from knowledge of research design to the application of statistics. In addition, upper-level laboratory classes offer students the opportunity to design and conduct a research project of their own design, within the context of a core psychological area (Clinical, Developmental, Neuroscience, Cognitive, or Social).
Other research opportunities are available through involvement with faculty projects. Each faculty member in the department has an active research program, and regularly seek out students for assistance and collaboration, in all phases of research, from background literature review to research design and participant testing, to the analysis of data and presentation of results. Students are encouraged to speak with the department chair or contact individual faculty about these opportunities.
