A Psychology Department newsletter is published each semester during the academic year. The newsletter includes current happenings in the department If you would like to receive an email link when the newest edition of the newsletter is published, please email Beth Williams, the Psychology Department Administrative Assistant. Please note, an email link is automatically sent to all declared psychology majors and minors, as well as curent psychology department faculty members.

Colloquium on "Causes, Consequences of Subtle Sexism" is Monday, December 3rd.
The UST Psychology Department will host a colloquium on "Sweet but Sour: the Causes and Consequences of Subtle Sexism" from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall.
Dr. Sarah Gervais '02, faculty member of the UST Psychology Department, will deliver the lecture. Everyone is welcome.
Orginally from Tracy, Minn., Gervais worked as a Psychology Department educational assistant while she earned her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas (she also met her husband, Tom Tiegs, here). She completed her graduate work at Pennsylvania State University where she earned a dual Ph.D. in psychology and women's studies.
Gervais has published journal articles and chapters on the causes and consequences of subtle sexism. She also has received the Gordon Allport Award for her work on patronizing behavior. She is intereted especially in stereotyping and the subtle prejudice from the perceiver and target perspectives, objectification, behavioral approach system, anger and coping, power and mindfulness.
