Violence
The University of St. Thomas is committed to
providing a reasonably safe and secure environment for our faculty, staff, students and
visitors. Therefore, acts or threats of physical violence, including intimidation,
harassment or coercion will not be tolerated.
Threats or acts of violence occurring on
campus should be reported to the Department of Public Safety, 962-(5555) or the St. Paul
or Minneapolis Police Departments (911). The University of St. Thomas advocates a
ZERO-TOLERANCE policy. Therefore, threats or acts of violence will lead to disciplinary
and/or legal action.
Things You Should Keep In Mind If You Are
Subjected To An Act Of Violence:
- Obtain description of assailant
- Report the incident or threat immediately to
Public Safety or Human Resources
- Avoid the area
- Escape
- Use available cover
- Dont panic
- Surrender property
- The goal is your safety
What Will Happen Next:
If you or someone you know, has been
subjected to workplace violence the following will happen:
- An investigation will be conducted by either
Public Safety, Human Resources, Deans Office, Residence Life or all of these
departments.
- The police may be called if necessary.

- The University of St. Thomas Employee
Advisory Resource (EAR) provides free confidential assistance for counseling troubled
individuals or victims. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The
number for this service is 1-800-328- 5000.
