Oct. 23 Update From the Presidential Search Committee Chair
I would like to update you on the presidential search process.
The University of St. Thomas presidential search committee, assisted by the executive search firm Witt/Kieffer, has spent the past months recruiting prospective applicants to serve as the next president of St. Thomas, and we recently began reviewing applications and selecting semi-finalists.
We are conducting a national search. For the first time in the history of St. Thomas, the search is open to Roman Catholic religious and lay persons—women and men—in addition to priests. Through our recruiting process, we have been working to ensure that all Roman Catholic individuals across the country who meet the qualifications set out in the new president’s leadership profile are aware of the search and seriously consider applying.
To this end, since publishing the leadership profile we have reached out to approximately 1,500 individuals throughout the United States, in addition to St. Thomas students, faculty, staff and alumni, to identify and recruit prospective candidates. Through this process, we have received numerous nominations and suggestions of candidates from within and outside the St. Thomas community, as well as numerous applications. We continue to receive and follow up on nominations and suggestions and to actively recruit to ensure we have the best possible candidate pool. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts to help us identify strong candidates to serve as our next president.
As indicated in the estimated timeline we established at the outset of the search, we expect to interview semi-finalists and select finalists during the month of November. While we are working to meet the milestones in our estimated timeline, the search committee is committed to take whatever time we determine necessary to develop the best pool of semi-finalists and finalists for consideration. We will continue to provide updates as our process moves forward.
If you have questions or comments about the search process, please do not hesitate to contact us.
