Honor Code

We believe that academic integrity is an essential characteristic of a healthy academic community.   In all aspects of their physics education, our students are expected to perform with honor, and we have adopted practices to keep this issue in our students' minds.  On each syllabus, we place a statement of the Department's honor code which discusses the importance of integrity in all scientific endeavors.  On each exam, we ask our students to affirm the originality of their work.  As we teach, we repeatedly stress the centrality of integrity to scientific process.  Furthermore, we foster an atmosphere of integrity by holding ourselves to the same high standards we hold our students.
