Gary M. Atkinson holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and has been teaching philosophy full-time since 1968. His major interests are in the philosophy of nature and the foundations of morality. His most recent article, "Potential Being and the Source of Cosmic Order," has been published by the International Philosophical Quarterly. He is currently at work on the topics of nature, natural law, and absolute moral prohibitions.
