Successful Testing Tips

If you are scheduled to take a test at the University of St. Thomas, following these steps can make your testing experience more comfortable:

  • Read through your registration bulletin or any information online you find about the test. Also, read your admission ticket carefully. You can learn about what the test is like, how long it is, and what you need to bring.
  • Know where you are going. Read your admission ticket carefully, then check out our maps at http://www.stthomas.edu/campusmaps/ or call our directions line at (651) 962-6201. If you are unfamiliar with the campus, it can be beneficial to drive over and find the building ahead of time. Parking is free at the St. Paul Campus on Saturdays. During the week, you must park in the visitor's ramp.
  • Set out what you need to bring the night before. Usually, you need your admission ticket, an acceptable picture ID, and pencils. Make sure your ID is appropriate, usually a driver's license or state issued ID card is needed. Bring an alternate form of ID just in case. If you forget your ID, you will not be admitted to the test!
  • Dress in layers! Although we try to make sure temperatures in the testing services rooms are comfortable, they can vary.
  • Bring in your watch - with any alarms shut off. Also, bring tissues, cough drops, and a snack if you would like. Check the registration instructions - are you allowed to bring earplugs or hi-lighter pens? Can you bring food or materials into the room?
  • Give yourself plenty of travel and parking time, and arrive early. The stress of being late and lost can affect your scores!
